The title boiled down to a private competition between Southport and Fleetwood Town, with the Sandgrounders edging things in the end.  There was some doubt about which teams would make the play-offs, though Alfreton Town booked their place alongside Fleetwood quite early on in the final stages.

Relegation seemed to come down to how long Vauxhall Motors and Harrogate Town could prolong the agony, but both have since been given a reprieve.  Gainsborough Trinity pulled clear towards the end, with the demise of Chester City + Farsley Celtic's, and Northwich's demotion meaning no clubs would drop to the NPL.  Worcester City, also reprieved from dropping a level, and Nuneaton Town, from the Southern League will be in the section next term.
